Light Series 2012
Light makes form visible. The manifestation of light is embodied through spatial experience.
My work is both a physical and sensory expression. Space is revealed and concealed through the manipulation of light and shadow. As the wearer moves, the piece is activated.
From various angles the viewer experiences the piece folding and unfolding, opening and closing, illuminating and obscuring the site (the body). I am interested in how we perceive the interaction of light and form and how the wearer initiates the journey of the audience.
This body of work is a composition of opposing forces, light and shadow, solid and void, surface and volume. Each element cannot be experienced without the other and is intended to evoke a sense of mystery, discovery and quiet contemplation.
